Beyond Visualisation:
Working Effectively with Aphantasic & Neurodivergent Clients
When hypnosis doesn’t work… It could be aphantasia!
Have you ever had a client who didn’t respond the way you expected?
Maybe they couldn’t ‘see’ anything… Or tap into a feeling of confidence… Or find that memory!
And you found yourself wondering:
“Are they not engaging?”
“Are they resisting?”
“Am I doing something wrong?”
In many cases, the issue isn’t resistance.
It’s a mismatch between your techniques and how your client’s mind actually works.
Many neurodivergent clients experience hypnosis differently - and most training doesn’t prepare you for that.
THE PROBLEM with most hypnosis trainings
Most hypnotherapy trainings focus on guided imagery –
we assume our clients can create pictures in their mind’s eye.
But what if… they cannot visualise?
And might not even realise that they’re different?
1 in 20 people have aphantasia and cannot create or hold mental images in their mind.
1 in 10 are poor visualisers.
Visualisation techniques simply may not work for them.
When your approach doesn’t match their processing style -
hypnosis fails.
Often leaving the client feeling that they are broken
and cannot be helped.
This is especially common in neurodivergent clients
with ADHD or autism.
What if the issue isn’t the client but your lack of understanding –
and your techniques?
This training shows you how to adapt your approach to neurodivergent and non-visual thinkers.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

MY STORY
As someone with aphantasia, I didn’t realise its impact until I trained in hypnosis.
As someone with aphantasia, I didn’t realise its impact until I trained in hypnosis.
I became the “difficult subject” – not because I didn’t want to engage, but because I couldn’t do what was being asked of me.
I couldn’t visualise, produce phenomena or tap into past memories or emotions.
That’s when I realised many clients are having the same experience – but no one is recognising it.
This training bridges that gap.
